Newtown's Board of Finance had a busy night on November 6th. They talked about spending money on important things like the town hall, fire trucks, and roads. The meeting started at 7:30 p. m. with most members there, except James Gaston. The First Selectman, Jeff Capeci, and the Finance Director, Glenys Salas, also joined.

First up, they talked about Edmond Town Hall. They want to spend $1. 7 million on electrical upgrades in 2028. But they need more details on the cost. The board wants to know exactly how much it will cost before they say yes.

Next, they discussed the fire department's plan to buy two new engines. The board wondered if they should borrow money or use their savings to pay for it. They also asked about plans to renovate the Dodgingtown Fire Company building.

Then, they looked at the Public Works requests. One board member, Barney Molloy, questioned a request to make the Tax Office bulletproof. He thought they should check if it's really needed. Jeff Capeci said there have been some scary incidents lately. Glenys Salas agreed, saying the office needs better security. Another board member, John Fletcher, looked at the plans to buy big trucks and store more salt for the roads.
