The U. S. is the only country that hasn't joined a big agreement to protect kids' rights. This agreement, called the U. N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, was made 35 years ago. Almost every country in the world has agreed to it. But the U. S. hasn't.

The U. S. did help make the agreement. But it hasn't made it a law. Some people in the U. S. think it would give too much power to the U. N. They think it would let the U. N. decide what's best for kids in the U. S. But is it really a good idea to protect the freedom to harm kids? That doesn't make sense.

Other countries have their own problems. But they still agreed to protect kids' rights. Countries like Venezuela, Afghanistan, and Somalia have all agreed. So why can't the U. S. ?

The agreement could help the U. S. make better decisions. It could help kids know their rights. It could make life better for kids. But the U. S. is still saying no.

The U. S. talks a lot about protecting kids. But it's not doing much. Kids in the U. S. are dying from gun violence. The U. S. has more school shootings than any other country. This is a big problem. But the U. S. is still not protecting kids' rights.

The U. S. should join the other countries. It should make the agreement a law. It should protect kids' rights. This is what the U. S. should do. It's time for the U. S. to step up and protect its kids.
