USA, San FranciscoMon Oct 21 2024
The San Francisco 49ers started the game with the ball, but the excitement really kicked off in the second quarter. Things went south quickly when the 49ers offense couldn't move the ball on their first drive.
The Kansas City Chiefs tried something bold with a fake punt on 4th & 1, but the 49ers defense wasn't fooled. This might have been a smart play by Nick Sorensen and the Chiefs' coaching staff to keep Patrick Mahomes off the field.
Brock Purdy threw an interception right after, wasting great field position for the 49ers. Mahomes then found Noah Gray for a big gain, but the Chiefs still struggled with a sack and a turnover by Kalia Davis.
Both teams traded punts before the 49ers finally got on the scoreboard with a long field goal from Anders Carlson. The 49ers offense looked lost, with only 28 yards and an interception from Purdy after the first quarter. It seemed like they were struggling against the Chiefs' defense led by Steve Spagnuolo.
