Afghanistan and Pakistan have decided to take a breather from their recent conflict. After weeks of tension and violence, both sides have agreed to a ceasefire. This truce, brokered by Qatar and Turkey, kicked in right away. The goal? To give both countries a chance to cool off and stop the fighting. The trouble started earlier this month, with each side accusing the other of starting it. Afghanistan insists it's not hiding any militants who attack Pakistan. Meanwhile, Pakistan has been dealing with a surge in militancy since the Taliban took over Afghanistan in 2021. The talks in Doha, Qatar, lasted a whopping 13 hours. Both countries signed an agreement promising not to attack each other or support groups that do. They also agreed to set up a system later on to sort out any issues and make sure the deal is followed. Pakistan's Defense Minister, Muhammad Yaqoob, confirmed the deal on social media. He said the border attacks from Afghanistan will stop immediately. Both countries also promised to respect each other's borders and territory. They plan to meet again in Istanbul later this month to discuss things further. This conflict has been tough on the people living near the border. The Durand Line, which separates the two countries, has been a point of contention for years. Afghanistan has never recognized it. The fighting has forced people to leave their homes and left thousands stranded at border crossings. The Chaman crossing in southwest Pakistan is only open for Afghan refugees leaving the country. Trade and regular travel from Afghanistan are still on hold. The Torkham crossing, another key border point, is completely shut down. For people like Shafiullah Khan, an Afghan refugee stuck at Chaman, the ceasefire brings hope. He's been stuck there for days and is happy to finally go home. But not everyone is thrilled. Businessman Hazarat Bilal Umaid is worried about his livelihood. He's hoping the borders reopen soon so trade can resume.
