Sean Combs, known as Diddy, is not happy with Netflix. He thinks the streaming giant made a big mistake by teaming up with Curtis Jackson, also known as 50 Cent, for a documentary series about his life. Diddy says the series, called "Sean Combs: The Reckoning, " is a "shameful hit piece" and that Netflix used footage without his permission.
Diddy has been collecting footage since he was 19 to tell his own story. He says it's unfair and illegal for Netflix to use this footage without his consent. He also thinks it's wrong that Netflix gave creative control to 50 Cent, someone Diddy sees as a longtime adversary.
This controversy comes after Diddy's recent legal troubles. He was sentenced to four years in prison on lesser charges but avoided a life sentence. He is currently appealing his conviction and facing more legal issues. Despite his legal battles, Diddy is expected to be released in mid-2028, though his sentence was recently extended by a month.
The documentary is produced by several companies, including House of Nonfiction and G-Unit Film & Television. It's directed by Alexandria Stapleton, with 50 Cent and others as executive producers.
Diddy's public relations team released a statement criticizing Netflix for sensationalizing his life and using private footage out of context. He also expressed disappointment that Netflix would hand his life story to someone who has publicly attacked him for decades.
