A Confusing Tribute: RFK Jr. and Charlie Kirk
At a recent vigil held at the Kennedy Center, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shared a peculiar tribute to the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, leaving many attendees and online observers puzzled.
A Peculiar Friendship
Kennedy claimed that he and Kirk became "soulmates" and "spiritual brothers" after their first meeting in July 2001. However, this statement raised eyebrows because Kirk was only seven years old at that time.
Many on social media speculated that Kennedy might have meant 2021 instead of 2001, as Kennedy did appear on Kirk's podcast in 2021. During that episode, they discussed Kennedy's book targeting Dr. Anthony Fauci and their shared views on vaccines.
A Conversation About Dangers
Kennedy also recalled a conversation with Kirk about the dangers they both face. He mentioned Kirk asking if he was scared to die, to which Kennedy responded that losing constitutional rights was worse than dying.
Prominent Attendees and Absences
The vigil was attended by several prominent conservative figures, including:
- Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt
- National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard
- House Speaker Mike Johnson
Notably absent was President Donald Trump, who expressed his sadness and outrage over Kirk's killing but chose not to attend the vigil. However, Trump vowed to attend Kirk's funeral in Arizona, mentioning that he would be taking some people with him on Air Force One.
