A Family's Journey: From Brooklyn to Staten Island, Building a Beauty Empire

Anne and Frank Bennett have been shaping lives and hairstyles on Staten Island for decades. Their story begins in Brooklyn, where they met as teens and discovered a shared passion for beauty. Frank, originally a carpenter, found his calling in hair coloring, while Anne, a natural artist, thrived in haircutting and makeup. Together, they attended beauty school and launched their first salon, Innovative Hair Concepts, in 1989. The Bennetts' journey wasn't always smooth. They faced challenges, especially early on, with little mentorship. But their entrepreneurial spirit drove them forward. They expanded quickly, opening Salon Queue in Brooklyn and later A. F. Bennett Salon of Arts and Science. Their success led them to Staten Island in 1998, where they opened A. F. Bennett Salon & Wellness Spa on New Dorp Lane.The Staten Island community embraced them. The Bennetts reciprocated by giving back. They opened Paul Mitchell the School NYC, the first cosmetology school on the island, training thousands of professionals. Their son, Frankie, joined the family business, learning the ropes from his parents. The Bennetts are deeply involved in their community. They support local events, churches, and organizations. Their dedication has earned them the Louis R. Miller Business Leadership Award. They credit their success to their faith, hard work, and the support of their community.
