A Family's Vision: Turning History into a Modern Event Space

In the heart of Robeson Township, a historic building from 1826 has found new life as Emily’s Event Venue. Cecile and Hollis Grimshaw, a husband-and-wife team, have poured their skills and love for historic preservation into this project. They bought the former Beckersville Hotel and transformed it into a versatile space for gatherings. The venue can host up to 100 people, perfect for weddings, corporate events, and parties. The Grimshaws have worked hard to preserve the building's historic charm while making necessary upgrades.The venue offers both indoor and outdoor spaces, including a heated, covered deck. However, it does not provide catering or decorating services. Guests are free to choose their own vendors or use the venue's preferred ones. The building has a rich history, having been a private residence, a hotel, and a restaurant over the years. It is also said to be haunted by the friendly spirit of a little girl named Emily, who brings a unique charm to the place. The Grimshaws' three daughters are also involved in the business. One runs a bridal business and handles social media, another manages the website, and the third is an artist who painted murals on the deck. The family's collaborative effort shows how combining different talents can make a business thrive. The Grimshaws plan to continue improving the venue with new carpeting, paint, windows, and deck upgrades, all while preserving its historic integrity.
