A Game Where Monsters Become Friends and Villages Come Alive

Chengdu, ChinaWed Jun 24 2026
Monster Fantasy is the first game from a small studio in Chengdu, China. The team, made up of about twenty people with decades of industry experience, plans to launch it on PC and already has a Steam page ready. They will start a Kickstarter campaign on July 15 to raise funds. The game mixes monster hunting with village life, taking cues from popular titles like Monster Hunter and Animal Crossing. Players start as a hero who has lost their memory in the Kingdom of Eldoras, a world that includes valleys, rainforests, frozen plains and volcanoes. The design goal is to let players choose between fighting monsters or building a cozy village, with each path progressing independently. There are four playable classes. The Warrior wields heavy gear and can switch between offense and defense, the Mage blends elements to create custom spells, the Archer focuses on long‑range attacks, and the Swordsman relies on agile dodging. Each character can learn all four classes’ skills if they use the right weapons, so a single hero can master every fighting style.
Combat feels alive because day‑night cycles and weather change how monsters act. Players can study creatures before fighting, recruit villagers as allies (though not all are suited for battle), and hunt over fifty big monsters such as the Nine‑Tailed Fox, Fire Dragon, Griffin, and Squirrel‑Bear. When a monster is defeated it can be tamed, raised from a pup to an adult, and even turned into a mount that helps players travel or fight. The life‑simulation side offers many simple activities: fishing, mining, chopping wood, farming, cooking, brewing potions, crafting gear, and building a village. Players can name their settlement, design homes, and decorate it to their liking. Around one hundred villagers with distinct personalities are available to befriend; they can live in the village, work for the player, or join fights. A new AI system lets players chat freely with villagers in real time, using large‑language models and text‑to‑speech technology. There is no official release date yet, but the game promises a unique blend of action and relaxation that could appeal to both hardcore gamers and casual players.
