This isn't the first time Trump and Kim have met. They've had three meetings before, but they couldn't agree on how to end North Korea's nuclear program or lift sanctions. Trump is heading to Asia for a five-day visit, stopping in Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea. The unification minister thinks this trip could make it easier for the two leaders to meet without the usual preparations. He believes a meeting could boost North Korea's international standing and improve the lives of its people. In 2019, Trump and Kim had a quick meeting at the Panmunjom truce village, right after Trump's visit to Japan for a global summit. This time, there's hope that something similar could happen.
