A. J. Brown's time with the Eagles seems to be winding down. After a disappointing playoff exit, his future with the team is in question. Brown's performance has been declining since his record-breaking season in 2022. He had 23 catches of 20-plus yards and six of 40-plus yards that year. The following season, he still managed 21 catches of 20-plus yards and 1, 456 receiving yards, despite some off-field issues.
This season, however, things took a turn for the worse. Brown's numbers dropped significantly, and his relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts became strained. He even took to social media to criticize the team's offense, calling it a \u201cs--t show. \u201d His behavior raised eyebrows, and not in a good way. Former NFL executive Mike Mayock wasn't a fan of Brown's passive-aggressive posts, saying it's hard to know how it affects the team unless you're inside the locker room.
On the field, Brown's struggles were evident. He had multiple drops in crucial games, including a costly one in overtime against the Chargers. His performance against the 49ers in the playoffs was no better. He finished with just three catches for 25 yards. After the game, he quickly left the locker room, barely stopping to speak to reporters.
Coach Nick Sirianni tried to play peacemaker, saying he has a special relationship with Brown. But even Sirianni admitted that the team needs to be more explosive on offense. Brown's decline in productivity hasn't helped. The question now is whether the Eagles should try to trade him, despite the four years and $84 million left on his contract.
