A Long Island Aide in Hot Water
Long Island, USAThu Oct 30 2025
A special education assistant from Long Island is in serious trouble. He's accused of taking sneaky photos of a 13-year-old girl in a Target dressing room. The incident happened on October 19th. The girl's dad saw what was going on and tried to stop the man, but he ran away.
Police later found out the man's name is Aqeel Ahmad. They caught him near his home in Selden. He's now facing some heavy charges. These include unlawful surveillance and endangering a child. He spent a night in jail and had to go to court the next day.
Ahmad works, or should we say worked, at the Eastern Suffolk BOCES academic center. The school found out about his arrest and quickly put him on leave. They also banned him from all their properties.
This whole situation raises some big questions. How did this happen? And how can we make sure it doesn't happen again? It's important to think about these things. We need to keep our kids safe.
Police are asking anyone who thinks they might have been affected by Ahmad to come forward. They want to make sure they have all the facts.
