A Man's Threat and a Gun at Atlanta Airport

Atlanta, USAWed Oct 22 2025

A Serious Threat

A 49-year-old man from Georgia, Billy Joe Cagle, is in big trouble. He threatened to cause harm at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. He even showed up with a powerful gun and lots of bullets.

The Threat

Cagle was talking to someone on FaceTime. He said he was at the airport and declared he was going to "shoot up the airport." He even made a gun sound before hanging up. The person he was talking to got scared and went to the police.

The Police Response

The Cartersville police alerted the Atlanta police and provided them with pictures of Cagle and his truck. The Atlanta police found Cagle walking towards a busy security check. They didn't think he had a gun on him, but they searched for him anyway.

The Discovery

The police found his truck and inside, they discovered a loaded AR-15 rifle with 27 bullets. The police checked the gun and said it was safe.

The FBI's Involvement

The FBI is helping with the case. They are working with the Cartersville and Atlanta police and the Clayton County District Attorney's office. The FBI mentioned that Cagle's family noticed something was wrong and told the police. They called it a great example of "See Something, Say Something."

Cagle's Criminal Past

Cagle has been in trouble before. He has a history with drugs, and the Atlanta police chief described his record as "pretty significant." This means he has been in trouble more than once.
