A New Chapter for The Citadel: President Glenn Walters Steps Down

Glenn Walters, the head of The Citadel, has decided to retire. He will leave his post at the end of the 2025-26 school year. Walters shared this news with the school community in early December. He believes it is the right time to move on. Walters has been in charge for eight years. During his time, he saw many changes and improvements on campus. A group of 14 people will now look for Walters' replacement. They will start the search soon. Walters is a graduate of The Citadel. He joined the school's leadership in 2018. Before that, he served in the Marine Corps. He took over from Lt. Gen. John Rosa. Walters talked about the school's growth during his time as president. He mentioned how the school handled the COVID-19 pandemic. The school kept running smoothly. Students, teachers, and staff stayed safe and on track. Walters also highlighted the school's modern facilities. He said the school is now ready for the future. Greg Delleney, the chairman of the school's board, supported Walters' decision. He listed many achievements under Walters' leadership. These include new buildings and renovations. Walters has an impressive background. He served in the military and earned many awards. His wife, Gail, works in communications.
