A New Name for a Famous Arts Center

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is getting a new name. The board of trustees decided to add President Donald Trump's name to it. Now, it's called the Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. New signs are being put up to show this change. The center's social media accounts have also been updated. But there's a problem. It's not clear if the board has the right to change the name. The building was made a memorial to Kennedy by Congress in 1964. The Kennedy family is not happy about this. Maria Shriver, Kennedy's niece, said the idea is "beyond comprehension. "Trump said the center was in bad shape before he got involved. He claimed to have saved it and got more donors. He also plans to ask Congress for more money. After taking office, Trump made big changes to the center. He replaced most of the board and became the new chair. This is not the first time a building has been renamed after Trump. Earlier this month, the US Institute of Peace also got his name. The institute was also changed by the Trump administration.
