A New Name for AI and a Government Watchdog Team

Washington D.C.Sat Nov 07 2026

The government is trying out a new name. President Trump started calling artificial intelligence super intelligence. He did this after a newspaper did not use his words right away. Most reporters and websites still say AI. They think the new name is confusing and unnecessary. The president even said he wants to stop people from using the older term.

The Justice Department created a new group. It is called the Super Intelligence Task Force. Its job is to stop outside powers and criminals from messing with American AI technology. This includes foreign governments, crime groups, and people or companies that commit fraud.

Two people run the task force. Their names are Stanley Woodward and Stephen Weiss. They answer to Attorney General Todd Blanche. Blanche has faced fraud accusations before. One case involved crypto. Now he helps lead a unit that looks for fraud in the AI world. Blanche said American builders will keep powering this technology. He also mentioned working with Jay Clayton, who chairs the SI Force.

Big tech leaders have done a lot to stay on the president's good side. One search company followed the president's ideas about renaming places. A former phone company chief gave the president a gold statue. A social media company ended diversity programs and stopped using outside fact-checkers. These firms also gave money to a big event. They still want huge government contracts. It is unclear if they will keep going along with everything after the next election. It is also unclear if they will start saying super intelligence instead of AI.
