A Newcomer Stirs Up the Georgia 14th Seat
Georgia, USAFri Mar 06 2026
Colton Moore, a former state senator who also works as an auctioneer and dump‑truck driver, is stepping into the spotlight for a special election in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District. He plans to bring a fresh, if controversial, energy to the race.
Moore’s past actions have already made headlines. In 2023 he aggressively challenged Fani Willis, the district attorney investigating former President Trump’s alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election. His relentless pursuit led to his removal from the Republican Senate caucus, a rare move for a party member.
The next year he was arrested at the state capitol after trying to enter the House chamber, a place from which he had been barred by the Republican speaker. These incidents show that Moore is willing to push boundaries, even if it means facing legal trouble.
Despite his combative style, the Republican Party in Georgia has largely favored more extreme figures. President Trump’s endorsement of Clay Fuller, a former prosecutor, reflects a shift toward candidates who are seen as more mainstream and less confrontational. This preference is evident even after former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s high‑profile break with Trump.
Moore, who is 32 years old, argues that his clashes with the establishment have already given him media attention. He believes this notoriety will help him stand out among roughly 20 other candidates vying for the seat.
The race remains unpredictable. With Trump’s support going to a different candidate, Moore’s future in the election depends on whether voters appreciate his willingness to challenge the status quo or prefer a more traditional approach.
