Overnight on Monday, a fire tore through the Stemmons Corridor in Dallas, leaving six commercial buildings damaged. It all started at around 10:40 p. m. , when Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) was called to the 1700 block of Empire Central Drive for what seemed like a small grass or tree fire. However, firefighters discovered multiple pallets burning instead. The fire had already spread rapidly, thanks to high winds. Within an hour, about 60 to 70 firefighters were on the scene. The blaze continued into the early hours of Tuesday, but it was eventually contained within a specific area.
By morning, firefighters were still busy extinguishing any remaining flames. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. The fire's impact was significant, with up to 1, 400 customers temporarily losing power. This was a precautionary measure taken by Oncor to protect the firefighters. Dallas-Fort Worth has been experiencing warm, dry weather, increasing the risk of fires. The forecast doesn't show any signs of rain, so this risk is expected to stay high this week.
