Andriy Parubiy, a well-known Ukrainian politician, was laid to rest on Tuesday. He was killed in a shooting on Saturday in Lviv. This is the second assassination in the city in just over a year. Police have a suspect in custody. They think Russia might be involved, but Moscow hasn't said anything about it. The suspect, a Ukrainian man, admitted to the shooting. He said it was personal revenge against the state. He also mentioned wanting to be part of a prisoner exchange to find his son's body. His son was a Ukrainian soldier who died in the war. People in Lviv spoke highly of Parubiy. He was a patriot and played a big role in Ukraine's pro-democracy movement in 2014. He later became the speaker of the parliament. Lviv, a city of around 700, 000 people, has a history of strong nationalist and cultural movements. Last July, another politician, Iryna Farion, was shot in Lviv. An 18-year-old is on trial for her murder. Police don't think the two crimes are connected, but some locals believe Russia is behind both. They think Russia is targeting Ukraine's leaders to weaken the country. Parubiy's death has left many in Ukraine feeling sad and worried. It's another reminder of the ongoing conflict and the risks faced by those who stand up for their country.
