A Philadelphia Family's Hope Turns to Heartbreak
In a tragic turn of events, human remains have been discovered in a shallow grave on the grounds of an abandoned school in Philadelphia. These remains are believed to be those of Kada Scott, a 23-year-old woman who has been missing for two weeks. The Philadelphia Police Department is working to confirm the identity of the remains and determine the cause of death.
Discovery and Investigation
The discovery was made after police received a specific anonymous tip. Officers searched the area around 10 a.m. on Saturday and found the remains in a heavily wooded area behind Ada H. Lewis Middle School. This school is near Awbury Arboretum in Germantown, an area that was central to a search earlier in the week.
During a search of the school grounds on Wednesday, police found items believed to belong to Scott. These items include:
- A cell phone case
- An iPad case
- Glasses
- A card bearing her name
All of these items are being examined by forensic experts.
Last Known Movements
Scott was last seen by her mother on October 4th as she was leaving for work at a nearby nursing home. Keon King, a 21-year-old man, has already been charged with kidnapping in connection with Scott's disappearance. On the evening of October 4th, Scott arrived at work but left before her shift was over.
Family and Community Response
Police have been in touch with Scott's family following the discovery of the remains. Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker said in a statement that the city will continue to support Scott's family during this difficult time. The family remains hopeful that Scott will be found safe and sound.
In the days leading up to her disappearance, Scott told her family and friends that an unknown individual had been harassing her via phone. Officials said evidence shows Scott was in communication with King and that she appeared to meet with him shortly after she left work on October 4th.
Police Investigation
Police were previously asking the public's help in locating King's vehicle, a 1999 metallic-gold Toyota Camry with a Pennsylvania license plate of MSX-0797. Later that day, police confirmed that King's vehicle was found in an apartment lot.
The 23-year-old's father, Kevin Scott, told reporters that the family remains confident that she will be found safe. It's been a difficult time for the family, but they are keeping faith that Scott is okay and will be found soon.
