A Quick Thinking App Leads to Arrests in a Series of Crimes

A man and a woman were caught after a spree of crimes across several towns. Police say they struck in Duxbury, Plymouth, and Kingston all in one day. Fernando Torres, 37, from Providence, RI, and Victoria Lambert, 29, from Warwick, RI, were picked up by Pembroke and Massachusetts State Police. They were found at a gas station on Sunday. Torres is facing serious charges. These include armed robbery, assault with a weapon, and threatening to commit a crime. Lambert is accused of helping him after the fact. The trouble started around 2:30 p. m. on Sunday. A man was walking near Arrowhead Rd. in Duxbury when a tan sedan pulled up. A man got out with a box cutter and demanded everything the victim had. The suspect took the victim's coat and Apple watch. Then he jumped back into the car, driven by a woman. The car had Rhode Island plates and matched descriptions from other crimes that day. Police put out a warning to be on the lookout for the suspects and their car. But they didn't need to wait long. They used the "Find My" app on the stolen phone to track down Torres and Lambert. At the gas station, police found items they believe were stolen. Meanwhile, police in Boston were busy too. In just one day, they dealt with 160 incidents. These included robberies, assaults, and burglaries. Several people were arrested for drug possession and theft. But remember, all the people arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
