A Repeat Offender's Shocking Attempt

In the small town of Holtville, Alabama, a 17-year-old girl nearly fell victim to a frightening situation. A man, later identified as Yordy Centeno-Melchor, tried to lure her into his vehicle. This wasn't Melchor's first brush with the law—he had been deported from the U. S. at least five times before. Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin shared that Melchor coaxed the teen with promises of money. Luckily, a bystander intervened, and Melchor fled. He was later arrested, and a search of his phone revealed his plans. District Attorney CJ Robinson expressed concern, noting that the federal government hadn't kept the community safe. Melchor, a Mexican national, is now in custody, awaiting trial for attempted kidnapping. The investigation is ongoing to determine if there are more potential victims.
