A Shocking Attack in the Middle of a Busy Store

A woman was hurt in a sudden attack at Macy's in Manhattan. The incident happened in the bathroom while she was changing her baby's diaper. The suspect, Kerri Aherne, was recently released from a psychiatric hospital. Aherne, 43, was arrested and will stay in jail without bail. She told police that voices in her head told her to hurt someone. She bought a knife from the store and attacked the woman, who is visiting from California. The victim, who works for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was stabbed in the back and arm. She is now in the hospital but is doing better. The baby was not hurt. This is not the first time Aherne has been in trouble. She was arrested in 2018 for threatening to kill a senator. She also left a hospital in 2024 because she said she couldn't stand it anymore. Aherne's next court date is in December. If found guilty, she could spend up to 25 years in prison. Macy's said they are sad about what happened and that they put safety first.
