A Small Kansas Home Bringing Big Changes to Senior Care
North Topeka, Kansas, USATue May 12 2026
A new care home in Topeka is trying to do things differently for older adults. Called Bea’s Place, it’s a cozy eight-bed home in North Topeka where residents get personalized care without the feel of a hospital. The idea came from the owner’s grandmother, who inspired a place where families could feel confident their loved ones were safe and respected.
Unlike big nursing homes, this place keeps things simple and personal. Meals are home-cooked, routines aren’t rushed, and staff actually have time to sit and talk with residents. That’s rare in bigger facilities, where speed often replaces care. The home charges $5, 950 a month, covering everything from food to medication help. No hidden fees, no surprises—just a clear price for round-the-clock attention.
The building used to be a house, and that’s the point. Small spaces mean fewer residents, which means more time for staff to focus on each person. Most senior care places in Kansas cap at 16 beds, but Bea’s Place keeps it even smaller. Right now, only two people live there, but the owner plans to fill the other spots soon.
Future plans include teaming up with local schools and churches to bring different generations together. Haircuts, nail care, and other services might come later as the home grows. The owner wants families to know their loved ones won’t just be another number—they’ll get care that fits their life.
