A prominent French actress, Juliette Binoche, is stepping into a new role. She's taking over as jury president for the 78th Cannes Film Festival. This isn't just any festival; it's the world's most prestigious one. This year, Cannes is showcasing leadership by a woman for the second time in a row. Binoche's impressive career is a great inspiration to many. She has worked in over 70 movies and collaborated with top filmmakers worldwide. She is known for herwork in films such as "The English Patient, " which won her an Oscar, and “Certified Copy, ” which won her a Cannes Film Festival award. Cannes is not a new place for Binoche. She kicked off her film journey in 1985, with her first major role in “Rendez-vous” which premiered at Cannes. She sees this new role as a full circle. But Binoche isn't just about film. She’s mixed things up with TV and has a history with the Cannes Film Festival. Most recently in 2023 with Trần Anh Hùng’s “The Taste of Things, ” which won the Best Director award. She was also in the Apple TV+ series "The New Look" and has done some serious TV Shows. What’s more? Her voice for social justice and education is also a key piece to her story. She helps fight for undocumented immigration and human rights. She’s also a big supporter of the #MeToo movement in France. Now she is heading the European Film Academy.
