A Strange Night at Mon Chéri: Burglars Steal More Than Just Cash
Scottsdale, Arizona, USATue Oct 28 2025
In Scottsdale, Arizona, a restaurant named Mon Chéri became the scene of an unusual crime. Early on a Saturday morning, two burglars broke in, causing damage and stealing money, an iPhone, and a bottle of Bacardi. But before they robbed the place, they were caught on camera doing something unexpected in a floral display outside.
The restaurant is known for its pretty flowers and pink food. The owner, Lexi Caliskan, shared the details of the crime. She mentioned that the burglars broke two doors and cash registers. The stolen items included $450 in cash, an iPhone, and a bottle of Bacardi.
Before the theft, the burglars were caught on security cameras having sex in a heart-shaped floral display. This display is where customers usually take photos for Instagram. The owner jokingly called it a "romantic spot" for the burglars' "quick interaction. "
When the staff arrived and found the mess, Caliskan immediately checked the security footage. She posted videos of the suspects' faces on Instagram, asking if anyone recognized them. The restaurant also joked in the comments, "Food so good they come at 4am ❤️. "
The owner and a server, Caitlyn Sorensen, spoke to local news outlets about the robbery. Caliskan tried to make sense of the burglars' actions, saying, "Maybe it's all the roses! And Mon Chéri is 'my dear' in French, which is a really endearing term. " Sorensen added, "Modern day Bonnie and Clyde at Mon Chéri. "
The restaurant is known for celebrating women, so the burglary was particularly upsetting. Caliskan said, "We are all women and run a women's celebration spot, and it violated and scared all of us. Overall, we want our streets to be safe! "
Scottsdale police were contacted for comment but did not immediately respond.
