The Kennedy Center is going through a lot right now. First, it got a new name, which not everyone is happy about. Then, the person in charge of putting on shows, Kevin Couch, left his job after just a few days. He didn't say why he quit. The Kennedy Center hasn't said much either.
This isn't the first time someone has left this job. Before Couch, Jeffrey Finn was in charge. He left last year after almost 10 years. It seems like this job is not an easy one to keep.
The Kennedy Center has been in the news a lot lately. The White House said the board, which is picked by the President, voted to add Trump's name to the center. But some people say that's not allowed. A law from 1964 says the center can only be called the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Since the name change, some artists have canceled their shows. Big names like Philip Glass and Renée Fleming won't be performing there anymore. Even the famous musical "Hamilton" pulled out.
Couch was supposed to be a big deal. He has lots of experience in entertainment. Before this job, he worked for ATG Entertainment. He booked shows with famous artists like Diana Ross and Joe Rogan. He also managed a group called Color Me Badd. And he's a drummer too, playing with different artists.
But none of that kept him at the Kennedy Center. Maybe he didn't like the new name. Or maybe he didn't want to deal with all the drama. Whatever the reason, he's gone now, and the Kennedy Center is left to figure things out.
