A Tragic Night of Loss: Midair Collision Cuts Lives Short

A terrible disaster happenedover Virginia’s Potomac River on a Wednesday night. The midair collision between a jet, the American Airlines regional jet, and a army helicopter, the Black Hawk, left no survivors and shattered many lives. The lives of 67 people on board came to an abrupt end that left everyone baffled and shocked. 67 lives were lost in the deadliest aviation accident to occur since 2001. The jet was packed withpassengers that included athletes, their coaches, and other loved ones who were traveling home. " The plane also carried Spencer Lane, a young and enthusiasticOlympic hopeful figure skater. His father Douglas Lane said that his wife Christine was a very social person and everyone loved her. The figure skating community was deeply affected by this tragedy. One of the passengers was Ian Epstein who was a flight attendant. He had a reputation of loving his job. He made friends everywhere and the flight attendant community was saddened by his death. He left behind two children, two stepchildren and his sister, Robbie Bloom Kiah Duggins was a a civil rights attorney who had been working with the Civil Rights Corps in Washington.
