A well-known British TV host, Laura Woods, surprised viewers when she fainted during a live soccer match. She was quickly taken to the hospital, but later shared that she was feeling better. Woods, who is 38 years old, posted on her Instagram story, saying she was sorry for worrying everyone. She mentioned that the paramedics at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton thought it might have been a virus that caused her to collapse. She also thanked her colleagues at ITV for taking care of her.
The incident happened during ITV’s pre-match coverage for the women’s England vs. Ghana soccer game. A video shared on social media showed Ian Wright, a fellow presenter, stopping mid-sentence as Woods collapsed beside him. Anita Asante, another colleague, quickly helped to pick her up. Wright asked if she was okay, and Woods replied that she was fine. The cameras then cut to a commercial break, and when the broadcast resumed, Woods had been replaced by Katie Shanahan.
Shanahan told viewers that Woods had been taken ill but was in good hands. During half-time, Shanahan gave another update, reassuring fans that Woods was doing okay and that everyone was sending her love. Woods’ fiancé, Adam Collard, also posted a message on social media, saying that she was okay and with the right people. The ITV Football team also sent their love and wishes for a speedy recovery to Woods.
Woods is a well-known sports reporter in the UK, covering both men’s and women’s soccer. She has worked on major events like the 2023 Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Men’s Euro. Before her current role, she hosted talkSPORT’s breakfast show and worked for Sky Sports. Woods and Collard, who is 30 years old, got engaged in September 2024. Woods shared the happy news on Instagram, saying that Collard made her happy.
