A Waiting Game: Nikki Haley's Support for Trump

South Carolina, USAWed Oct 30 2024
Former South Carolina governor and U. N. ambassador, Nikki Haley, is one of Donald Trump's staunchest supporters. She pulled in more votes in the Republican primaries than any other candidate that challenged him. Despite this, she's been quiet on the campaign trail. She's already released her delegates to back him at the Republican National Convention and said she'll vote for him. But unlike some other former rivals, she hasn't been seen stumping for Trump. Haley has offered Trump's campaign dates when she's available, but no joint appearances have been scheduled yet. The Trump campaign did not comment when asked about this. During the primaries, Haley wasn't shy about criticizing Trump and other candidates. She even warned that if Trump got the nomination, it would lead to a Democrat win. Trump was not pleased with Haley staying in the race late into the primaries. After she ended her campaign, she waited two months before endorsing him. At the Republican National Convention, she told her supporters that they don't have to agree with Trump all the time to vote for him. Haley has shown her support by starting a radio show and making fundraising appeals for Trump's campaign. Yet, some of her voters aren't as enthusiastic about Trump. The Harris campaign has even started a "Republicans for Harris" group, targeting voters who backed Haley. Experts say that not campaigning with Trump could actually help Haley in the future. She's made it clear that she supports Trump because she believes he can make America strong and prosperous.
