A warm start to summer in Washington with changing weather on the way
Washington DC, USASun Jun 07 2026
Washington and nearby areas are dealing with typical June heat this weekend, with daytime temperatures reaching the low 90s under partly cloudy skies. Humidity stays lower than expected for this time of year, making it feel less sticky than usual. Most places stay dry on Saturday, but a cold front moving in from the north could bring a few showers or thunderstorms late in the day, especially north of the city. If storms do form, they might bring strong winds or small hail, though widespread rain isn’t likely.
The beaches in Ocean City and Rehoboth aren’t getting the same storm risk. They’ll see mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s and a nice ocean breeze. A stray late-day shower isn’t out of the question, but the chance is slim. Even after sunset, temperatures stay comfortable in the 60s, though a few leftover storms could still drift through.
Sunday brings more sunshine mixed with clouds as the front passes through, pushing temperatures back into the upper 80s to low 90s before cooling down later. Storm chances shift south, giving northern areas a break. The beaches stay pleasant with highs around 80, though a quick shower could pop up in the evening. By Sunday night, the air turns noticeably cooler, dropping into the upper 50s to low 60s.
A nice stretch of drier, milder weather starts Monday as a high-pressure system moves in from the northeast. Expect clearer skies, lower humidity, and highs in the low to mid-80s for a couple of days. Tuesday looks almost identical, but by midweek, humidity creeps back up, and temperatures climb back into the mid to upper 80s. A few random storms might pop up in the afternoons, but nothing severe is expected.
By late in the week, the heat makes a strong return, pushing temperatures back into the low 90s with the heat index possibly reaching the mid-90s. Scattered storms could develop, but they won’t be widespread or dangerous. For now, Washington has a mix of summer weather—some sun, some storms, and a few cooler moments before the next warm spell hits.
