A Weekend of Firsts for KC Current and CPKC Stadium

This weekend, Berkley Riverfront Park is hosting a series of firsts. The KC Current is playing their first NWSL Playoff game in the first stadium designed solely for a women's pro sports team. That's quite a milestone! Team President Raven Jemison thinks this is a big deal. They believe that the team's success on the field makes their job easier. After all, who doesn't love a winning team? The Current sold out every home game this year. That's amazing! VP of Marketing Jocelyn Monroe thinks this is a great way to grow the sport and the league. Kids these days will never know a time when women's pro sports teams didn't have their own stadiums. Isn't that cool? Stefanie Tomlin, the General Manager of CPKC Stadium, agrees. She says having a space of their own has a lot to do with the team's success this year. It's motivating to have something built just for you, right? This weekend, the stadium is juggling the Big 12 Women's Soccer Championships and the Current's playoff game. That's a lot to handle! Monroe thinks this is a big step in getting women's sports the investment they deserve. Even if the Current doesn't advance, CPKC Stadium will host the NWSL Championship. Talk about exciting times!
