A Weekend of Wins and Losses for Local Basketball Teams

Local high school basketball teams had an exciting weekend at the ASU Christmas Classic. The Centauri Falcons showed their strength by winning both of their games. They first beat Gunnison 58-51 and then took down Summit 51-40. On the other hand, the Alamosa Mean Moose had a mixed weekend. They lost to Summit 51-47 but bounced back to defeat Gunnison 63-55. In the first game against Gunnison, the Falcons had a strong start. Shandon Gilleland and Jayse Maestas scored key points to keep Centauri ahead. Gilleland led the team with 19 points, while Maestas added 12. For Gunnison, Max Peluso was the top scorer with 18 points. The second game against Summit was another win for Centauri. Gilleland again played a crucial role, scoring 13 points. Donovan Jarvies also contributed with 10 points. Summit's Ceasar Lozano was their top scorer with 18 points.
Alamosa's game against Summit was a close one. Victor Zepeda led the Mean Moose with 20 points, but it wasn't enough to secure a win. Summit's Lozano scored 15 points, and Alonso Baca added 14. In their final game, Alamosa faced Gunnison. Zepeda was outstanding, scoring 27 points. Jaidyn Burciaga also had a great game with 19 points. For Gunnison, Landon Miller scored 16 points, and Jorge Perez added 15. Both teams will take a break for the holidays and resume their season in January. Alamosa will play at Montrose and Delta, while Centauri will also face Delta and Montrose. It's going to be an exciting start to the new year for these local teams.
