For 34 years, Ramstetter dedicated himself to coaching wrestling, with 31 of those as a head coach. His most significant impact was at Alamosa High School, where he transformed the Mean Moose into a powerhouse. Under his guidance, the team clinched state championships in 1988, 1992, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2006, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2018, and 2019. His coaching prowess didn't go unnoticed. He was honored as the Colorado Coach of the Year four times and received the Lifetime Service to Wrestling award in 2012.

His most notable wrestler, Jon Archuleta, became a four-time state champion from 1992 to 1995. Archuleta is one of only 33 boys to achieve this feat, a testament to Ramstetter's coaching excellence.
