Teaching methods have evolved significantly in the past decade, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic pushed online learning to the forefront. Yet, the effectiveness of online teaching compared to traditional face-to-face methods remains uncertain. A recent study explored the impact of active participation and face-to-face interaction on university students' performance in financial accounting. Over a span of four years, researchers compared the results of students in different teaching environments: standard face-to-face classes, online streaming, and innovative face-to-face techniques.
The findings were clear: students in the experimental groups, which focused on active participation and innovative teaching methods, showed significant improvements in their performance and marks, especially in continuous evaluation systems. Interestingly, students also expressed a strong preference for these interactive models, indicating that they found these methods effective and successful. This study highlights the crucial role that group interaction and active participation play in enhancing academic success, emphasizing the benefits of innovative face-to-face teaching strategies.
