AI is making waves in the workplace, and young workers are feeling the ripple effects. A recent study found that 80% of employees think AI will change their daily tasks. Gen Z is especially worried as companies start using more AI chatbots and automation.
Job openings for "AI agent" skills have skyrocketed by 1, 587%, showing that AI is taking over simple, repetitive jobs. The study surveyed 27, 000 workers and 1, 225 employers across 35 markets, looking at over 3 million job postings.
The job market is already under stress. Companies worldwide are cutting jobs as consumer confidence drops. This is partly due to trade tensions and political uncertainty. Meanwhile, tech firms are replacing jobs with AI, even though many companies haven't seen big returns from their AI investments yet.
Workers have mixed feelings about AI. They see the benefits but worry that companies will use it to cut costs and increase efficiency. Gen Z is the most anxious, while Baby Boomers feel more confident about adapting to AI.
Nearly half of the workers think AI will help companies more than employees. There's also a big gap between how employers and workers see business growth. While 95% of employers expect growth, only 51% of employees agree.
