AI Checks Workplace Mood via Video
A new AI tool was built to spot signs of mental strain at work. It looks at short video clips that workers record when asked about their health.
The test involved 117 office staff in Japan. Each person sent about 14 video answers over ten work days. That adds up to 1,631 clips. They used two kinds of screens: one with a cartoon helper and one with a real person on camera. Both groups started out similar in age, job type, and how often they used the app.
The AI guessed the level of hidden stress with about 72 percent correctness. Its F1 scores were 0.64 overall and 0.73 when weighted. Two doctors agreed on the rating 84.5 percent of the time. Missing data popped up more often in one type of screen, but usage frequency stayed the same.
This shows the system can act like a doctor without asking long questionnaires. It gives a quick, unbiased way to watch worker wellbeing. Future use could help companies keep staff healthy.
