AI‑Driven “Vikram Betal” Brings Ancient Tales to Modern Classrooms

Mumbai, IndiaTue Jun 16 2026
Historyverse, part of India’s Collective Studios, has revealed a fresh take on the classic Indian story of King Vikramaditya and the spirit Betal. The new version, called “Vikram Betal, ” will use artificial intelligence to bring the ancient folk tales to life. Birla Open Minds has joined as a knowledge partner, promising students hands‑on insight into how AI can shape storytelling. The original stories come from the “Baital Pachisi, ” a set of riddles told by Betal to the king, each ending with a moral lesson. The tales have been a staple of Indian culture for ages and were famously adapted in the 1985 TV series “Vikram Aur Betaal. ” That show was a hit across the globe and helped launch the creator’s later epic “Ramayana” series. More recent adaptations have appeared on Colors, Cartoon Network and AndTV.
Historyverse will produce the new series through its own AI studio, Galleri5. The company says it wants to use cutting‑edge tech without losing the original story’s spirit and philosophy. Students in Birla Open Minds schools will receive special content and behind‑the‑scenes tours, turning the project into a learning experience about both heritage and modern technology. According to Collective Artists Network’s CEO, the partnership shows how a timeless idea can still spark imagination and critical thinking. The collaboration aims to let young people connect with India’s cultural roots through the power of narrative and AI. Birla Open Minds’ managing director highlighted that education should blend tradition with innovation. The project merges an iconic storytelling form with artificial intelligence, offering learners a chance to explore creativity and tech while staying rooted in cultural values. The announcement fits Historyverse’s broader goal of creating a lasting platform that explores Indian history, folklore and culture through films, series, games and new media.
