Airbnb's New Year's Eve Plan: No Parties Allowed!
Columbus Ohio USA,Wed Dec 18 2024
This New Year's Eve, Airbnb is stepping up its game to keep parties at bay. The short-term rental giant is using some fancy tech to make sure your vacation spot stays peaceful. They're calling it "machine learning, " which helps them figure out if a booking might cause trouble. Factors like how long the trip is, what type of place it is, and how close the guest lives all play a role.
If the booking seems risky, Airbnb can block it or suggest another place to stay. Guests also have to agree not to throw wild parties. Breaking this rule could get them in serious trouble, like being kicked off the platform.
Last year, these measures worked well in Columbus. Around 300 people were stopped from booking whole homes for New Year's Eve. Across Ohio, it was about 1, 200 people. Now, Airbnb is adding more protection. They're screening bookings year-round, giving hosts free noise sensors, and setting up help lines for hosts and guests.
Tara Bunch, who's in charge of Airbnb's operations worldwide, said, "We want to help reduce the risk of unwanted parties. These defenses should give everyone more peace of mind while celebrating. " This tech will be in use not just in Columbus or the U. S. , but everywhere Airbnb operates.
