New York, USATue Oct 22 2024
Al Pacino has had a unique relationship with the movie The Godfather. He didn’t watch it for 50 years! The famous actor even left the premiere in 1972, feeling shy and embarrassed about seeing himself onscreen. Despite being nominated for an Oscar for his role as Michael Corleone, he avoided watching the entire movie. Al Pacino mentioned that he didn’t want to watch himself act with an audience around. It’s like he was too self-conscious to enjoy his own performance.
Even when parts of the movie were on TV, he had a hard time sitting through the whole thing. Al Pacino didn’t want to be his own critic while watching. But recently, things changed. He finally watched The Godfather in its entirety at a special screening for its 50th anniversary. He loved how every scene was full of stories and had no dull moments. This movie is a classic, and Al Pacino’s story about finally watching it is pretty special too.
