Attention all Amazon Prime members! You can now save money at the gas pump. Amazon Prime just added a new perk: save 10 cents per gallon at over 7, 000 BP, Amoco, and AM/PM stations across the U. S. This could save you nearly $70 a year. To get the discount, link your Amazon account to the BP loyalty program app, Earnify. Gas prices are low right now, but who knows what'll happen with global oil prices? Amazon is always looking for ways to make Prime membership more valuable.
Amazon isn't new to benefits. They already offer music and video streaming, food delivery, and even medical care discounts. But gas savings? That’s a surprise. Experts say Amazon wants to stay ahead of competitors like Walmart+, which offers similar savings at more stations. As other retailers add more perks, Amazon is doing the same to keep its lead.
But is it worth it? Amazon Prime costs $139 a year, which is more than Walmart and Target memberships. Some customers might not use all the benefits and feel they're not getting their money's worth. Amazon needs to make sure all these benefits are useful to everyone.
