In a recent announcement, Amazon has pledged $10 million to support Los Angeles in the wake of devastating wildfires. The funds come from various divisions, including Amazon Music, Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios, Ring, and Whole Foods Market. The money will be used to aid several organizations, such as the American Red Cross of Southern California, FireAid, and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.
Besides financial support, Amazon has also sent over 145, 000 essential items to local response teams. These include fire stations, community brigades, and schools like the Los Angeles Unified School District. They've also leveraged their AWS cloud technology to assist emergency responders.
This act follows similar commitments from other companies, like Sony Group Corporation, which contributed $5 million, and Warner Music Group, which pledged $1 million.
