Amazon recently introduced a new technology called Vision-Assisted Package Retrieval (VAPR). This tech is designed to help delivery drivers work more efficiently. The idea is to reduce the time drivers spend organizing packages and checking if they have the right ones. VAPR uses visual cues to show drivers which packages to deliver and which to leave in the van. A green "0" appears on packages to be delivered, while a red "X" marks those that stay. Audio and visual signals also confirm the right package selection.
In early tests, VAPR saved drivers about 30 minutes per route. This could mean less stress and hassle for drivers, making their jobs a bit easier. Amazon plans to put VAPR in 1,000 delivery vans by early next year.
It's interesting how technology can help make jobs simpler. But it also raises questions about how much we rely on tech and what happens if it fails.
