American Man's Failed Plot to Attack U. S. Embassy in Israel
Tel Aviv, IsraelMon May 26 2025
A man was taken into custody at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. This was after he attempted to attack a U. S. Embassy office in Tel Aviv, Israel. The man, Joseph Neumeyer, is both an American and a German citizen. He was first detained in Israel on May 19. This happened after he had a nasty run-in with a security guard outside the embassy. Neumeyer spat on the guard and then tried to run away. He dropped his backpack to escape. Inside that backpack, officials found three homemade bombs, known as Molotov cocktails. Neumeyer was later found and arrested at his hotel.
Neumeyer, who is 28 years old, had been sharing his plans on social media. He posted messages like, "Join me as I burn down the embassy in Tel Aviv. Death to America, death to Americans, and f--- the west. " He also threatened to harm President Donald Trump. Neumeyer's social media profiles show that he claims to be the founder of a company called Atlas Light Co. It is unclear what this company does. He also claims to have started several other businesses. Recent posts on his Facebook page show he is unhappy with the West, especially the U. S. and Trump.
Neumeyer had been in Israel for about a month before the incident. It is not clear what he was doing there or where he was staying. After his arrest, he was deported back to the U. S. He could face up to 20 years in prison if found guilty. This arrest happened just days after two staff members from the Israeli Embassy in Washington were killed. The suspect in that shooting, Elias Rodriguez, was charged with murder. He shouted "Free, free Palestine" after his arrest. This event has raised questions about security and tensions in the region. It also highlights the importance of monitoring social media for threats. The public needs to be aware of the dangers of extremist views and the need for vigilance.
