Apple Arcade's New Tricks: Hands-On with Four Upcoming Games
Cupertino, USASun Nov 17 2024
It’s been five years since Apple Arcade started, and it’s still going strong. Instead of fizzling out, the ad-free gaming service keeps adding new games every month. Some of them are even surprises, like a 3D remake of Final Fantasy IV. In 2025, the service will get even bigger. Recently, Apple revealed some new games coming in January, including one exclusively for the Apple Vision Pro called Gears & Goo. We got to play around with four of these upcoming games. Each one was different, showing how Apple Arcade has something for everyone. Let’s dive into what we thought of these new games.
One of the first hits on Apple Arcade was Skate City, a game where you swipe to do skateboarding tricks. The team behind it is back with Skate City: New York. It’s similar to the original but set in the Big Apple. You can skate through Central Park and other famous spots. This new game looks like it’ll be just as challenging and fun.
Coming this December is Talking Tom Blast Park. It’s a family-friendly game where you run through an amusement park, throwing plungers at raccoons. The more you play, the more the park changes. You can build new rides, making each run different and exciting.
Tower defense fans with an Apple Vision Pro can look forward to Gears & Goo in January. This game uses advanced tech like eye-tracking and hand gestures to let you build defenses and move troops. It’s a unique way to play and shows off what the Vision Pro can do.
If you like word games, Boggle: Arcade Edition is a fun challenge. It has a level-based adventure mode, making it a fun way to improve your skills. This game launches in December alongside other new games like Pac-Man 256+ and Barbie Color Creations+.
