Apple has turned the tide in China with its iPhone 16 series, seeing a 20% increase in sales within the first three weeks compared to the iPhone 15. Last year, Huawei's resurgence with the Kirin 9000S and Mate 60 series gave Apple some tough competition, forcing it to offer discounts on the iPhone 15. But the iPhone 16 has changed the game. The new lineup has outsold the previous generation, with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max leading the charge, increasing sales by 44% over their predecessors.
Apple’s launch came at the same time as Huawei’s Mate XT, the world’s first tri-fold smartphone. Despite this, Apple managed to secure higher shipments, showing strong performance in the region. One significant appeal of the iPhone 16 series was the inclusion of Apple Intelligence, though this feature will initially roll out in the U. S. and Canada. For many customers, the lack of major design changes wasn’t the main draw. Instead, they appreciated Apple addressing concerns from previous models. While current iPhone 15 owners may not feel the need to upgrade, those with older models seem more enthusiastic about making the switch.
