Apple is rolling out some fresh features to keep users active in the new year. They've added a special award for those who smash their fitness goals for a week straight in January. Plus, there's a new challenge with Strava where logging 12 workouts can earn you a badge. Starting January 5th, Apple Fitness+ is introducing multi-week programs for strength, HIIT, and yoga. These programs build on each other to help users progress. Fans of KAROL G and Bad Bunny will also get new workouts featuring their music. New Time to Walk episodes are coming too, with celebrities like Penn Badgley and Mel B sharing their stories. Apple's data shows that many people quit their fitness resolutions by mid-January, but Apple Watch users tend to stick with it.
Their study found that after a drop in activity over the holidays, users ramp up their exercise in January. Over 60% of users boosted their exercise by more than 10% in the first two weeks of January. Nearly 80% kept up the increase through the rest of the month, and 90% of those maintained higher activity levels into spring. But can tech really keep you moving? While these features might help, staying active is ultimately up to the user. It's great to have tools and challenges, but consistency comes from within.
