Arkansas is getting ready for a big winter storm. The governor has called in the National Guard to help. They will work in teams to assist people stuck in their cars. These teams have special vehicles and tools to help.
The storm is expected to bring a mix of snow and sleet. It will start Friday night and continue into Saturday. Some areas could get up to 7 inches of snow. The governor declared a state of emergency to get ready for this.
Washington County has also declared a state of emergency. They closed government buildings early. Fayetteville started working on roads early. They have special trucks to put salt and brine on the roads. This helps to melt the ice and snow.
The city is also thinking about trash and recycling. They might delay these services if the roads are too bad. Libraries in the area are closing because of the weather. Bentonville is asking people to put out their trash early.
The weather will be very cold. Temperatures will drop to single digits. People are being told to dress warmly and watch for signs of hypothermia. The cold weather will last until Tuesday.
