In a swift turn of events, Santa Cruz police have apprehended a local man suspected of vandalizing a new LGBTQ+-friendly bar in the downtown area. The incident, which occurred at The Neighbor’s Pub on Pacific Avenue, involved offensive graffiti and an attempted arson. The bar, which recently opened its doors, aims to support both local and global queer communities. The owner, Frankie Lynn Farr, had been actively involved in fundraisers and events to support the LGBTQ+ community since 2021.
Police identified the suspect, James Thunder Eason, by comparing body camera footage with the pub’s security camera images. Eason was already in custody for unrelated charges and was rebooked with new charges, including felony vandalism and violating civil rights. The quick investigation highlights the importance of community safety and inclusivity.
