Bad Gear Sent to Taiwan: GOP Lawmakers React

House Republicans recently sent a letter criticizing two federal agencies for delivering damaged defense equipment to Taiwan. This included moldy body armor and expired ammunition, which cost over $730, 000 to replace. The equipment was exposed to harsh weather conditions due to poor packaging. The letter, led by Rep. Young Kim, argues that sending faulty gear makes the U. S. look weak. Other Republicans, including Reps. Lawler and Wilson, also signed the letter. This comes after a similar memo from Sen. Ernst. The Pentagon responded, stating they are committed to providing good equipment. A report found that over 340 pallets of equipment were damaged due to inadequate storage. Republicans noted that Taiwan is still waiting for billions in equipment. They're asking questions about the oversight and steps being taken to prevent future issues.
